Hey Rush fans, it's Vicki here with a recap of our show at StillFire Brewing!
What a fun place StillFire is. They've got a patio, food trucks, and of course, craft beer. The whole thing gives off such a summer vibe.
Of course, that vibe did include the Georgia heat. We arrived at the venue around 3:30pm, and man was it humid. And sticky. But our biggest fear was the rain. Though the stage had a cover, the tables did not. I certainly didn't want our fans to get wet! I kept checking my phone for the weather forecast, and by 5pm or so, I felt confident that the rock gods would be kind to us.
Soundcheck went smoothly with Sweet Sound Atlanta at the helm (love those guys), and by 7:30 I was dressed and ready to rock. I had a new shirt, a soft black and red sleeveless that would keep me cool. Or so I thought!
People poured in as show time neared, and I got to talk to lots of new folks. Fans brought lawn chairs, settling in beside the wooden picnic tables provided by the venue. The pizza truck smelled amazing, but it was show time!
At 8pm, we took the stage. From then on it was a BLAST! The fans were so engaged. Whether it was air drumming to The Trees, singing with me on Closer to the Heart, or clapping along on The Spirit of Radio, they were with us.
We went all over the Rush catalog, as you can see from the set list. We love it all, and we enjoy sharing the different eras with the best fans in the world.
By intermission, the sky had darkened, but it hadn't cooled off much and we were frying under the lights! But the energy from the people was electric and kept our spirits high the whole night. I was shocked to find out that about 50% of the audience was new to Spirit of Rush! Welcome!
We closed out the show with Working Man, which had folks on their feet. Then I ate a huge plate of grilled chicken and fries from the Vietnamese food truck! You wouldn't believe how hungry I get after a show! LOL.
We feel so blessed to play this music for our fans. It never gets old, because there are always new challenges, new songs to learn, and new people to meet.
Thanks to all who joined us! It was a night to remember. And thank you, StillFire! See you next time!
