Show Recap: Final Show of 2024 at Rosati's

Greetings, Rush Fans! Vicki here with a little recap of our final show of 2024 at Rosati's! (Set list below)

I don't think we could have asked for a better night. We were debuting three new songs, so I had a few more nerves than usual, but also a sense of wonderful anticipation. I slowly got ready, changing into stage clothes and putting on makeup. Fans started to trickle in and I loved seeing their faces.

At about 9:05 everything was set to go. We jumped up on stage and took a deep breath as Casey kicked it off with the Three Stooges theme. Then we launched into Subdivisions as the fans cheered and gave us energy, which we needed because right after our second song, Limelight, it was time for one of the new tunes. And that song was…One Little Victory! I needn’t have worried, because from the get go Casey’s thundering drums carried the song, and we got the timing down perfectly. What a butt-kicker! After the song’s hard stop, the crowd cheered and I felt relieved and also proud of us!

We rolled on with Digital Man and Distant Early Warning, which I sang with deep emotion. After 2112, Fly by Night, and a few others, we came up on our second new song of the night, Making Memories. A fan had requested it some time ago and he was there that night! The look on his face when we announced that it was for him was priceless. We rocked through the song and saw him smile big, so I think we did it well!

Next was Cygnus X1, which is always a challenge to play, but also always fun. We then kept the Rush party going with Witch Hunt, Kid Gloves, New World Man, and Marathon. When Marathon came, I felt the chorus uplift me to the stars as I listened to Ed's gorgeous keyboards and Reese's equally stunning harmonies.

After our fans joined in on a lively version of The Spirit of Radio, I felt a wave of excitement. My original song, called Spinning, was next. I told the crowd the story of how the song came to be and how I ended up collaborating on it with the band. The fans cheered in support, and I took time to recognize the moment for what it was – a dream come true. Casey counted it off, and Reese launched into the opening riff. There we were, playing my tune! As I burst into the lyrics everything flowed with ease, and singing the chorus with Reese filled my soul. His guitar solo was so creative and I held deep gratitude for how the guys took my song and made it real!

When the song ended the crowd erupted in applause. And that applause went on, with fans whooping and hollering in approval. I grinned wide, overcome by emotion that I had done it, and that the fans loved it. It was a glorious feeling! We closed out the night with Xanadu, which ended with a standing ovation.

It's been an incredible year for TSOR. We've played a ton of shows, launched a new website, and released professional video footage from our shoot at Madlife. We also started our mailing list, got new banners, and played new venues. We are forever grateful to our loving fans for being there at the heart of all that we do.

And so we look forward to 2025, where we're gonna kick it off in a BIG WAY with the entire Hemispheres and Permanent Waves albums at Red Clay Music Foundry on January 24! I never cease to be amazed at this thing we've created and I feel so privileged to play this music for people.

We wish you happy holiday, happy New Year, and we'll see you in '25!

Cheers

Vicki
