Wow, what a challenge the band had at Red Clay Music Foundry, Duluth, GA this past Friday, August 16! We had tasked ourselves with doing several deep cuts with guest keyboardist Jeff Blanks, plus a new song we'd never played live before, plus the ENTIRE A Farewell to Kings album!
So how did it go? It was a joy! Our fans just cheered and hollered and gave us so much energy.
We kicked off set one with some Rush favorites like Subdivisions and Limelight, then brought Jeff up for some material we love but don't often play. With his help, we enjoyed rocking Show Don't Tell, Territories, The Pass, and more (see set list below). I especially enjoyed singing The Pass for all the people who might have been struggling in life. I saw a lot of emotion in the audience. I had a lot within me too!
We took a short break, I gulped down some sugar cookies (sugar being essential for long shows), and then we came back for A Farewell to Kings in its entirety. We played Madrigal for the first time ever and it was lovely. After finishing the album, our fans treated us to a heartfelt standing ovation. We were so grateful!
We rounded out the show with a few more Rush faves like The Spirit of Radio and Red Barchetta, and our audience gave us even more love. We had the pleasure of meeting several fans afterwards, and we are consistently blown away by how kind, generous, and enthusiastic they are. We will NEVER take that for granted!
As always, we enjoyed playing the best music on Earth…RUSH! Our next show is August 31, 2024 at Napoleons in Decatur, GA. We hope you can join us!
Until then, RUSH ON!
Cheers,
Vicki
