Fan Question: How Did You Come Up with the Tribute Band Name?

Greetings SOR Nation!

It's time once again for our Fan Question series, and this time we will answer the following: How did you come up with your tribute band's name?

Answer:

When we first got together in 2013 and decided to form a band, coming up with the name was a serious task! After all, provided you endure you will be stuck with the name for a long time.

Much like everything we do, we took input from all four of us. We started with brainstorming via Facebook Messenger, just tossing names back and forth. We also did a search of Rush tributes that already existed.

And of course, we had to throw some humorous band names in there, names we would never use but that made us laugh. One of the classics was Clockwork Assholes!

We also ran some of the band names by friends and family, and ultimately it came down to two or three. I wish I could remember the ones that we didn't choose!

But in the end we chose The Spirit of Rush because we felt that it represented us best. We didn't just want to replicate the music; we wanted to bring the heart of the joy we felt when playing it. In other words, the spirit.

Also, we have been great friends from day one, much as Rush has. Bringing that spirit of collaboration to the stage mattered to us.

We did not know at the time that Rush would retire in 2015 or that we would lose Neil in 2020, but since then the name has taken on a new meaning: to keep the spirit of Rush alive!

We have loved the name from the moment we chose it and we hope you enjoyed its history!
